Chapter 3 — Question Ladders
Every worksheet should climb. Questions one and two repeat the model exactly. Questions three to five change one variable. Questions six and seven remove the scaffold. By question eight, students should be doing something the first question never taught them — because the ladder carried them there.
A flat worksheet is twelve identical questions. A ladder is one thinking journey. If your students' errors are all the same error, your ladder is missing a rung.
